Blog Updates and Plan Moving Forward

First of all, I feel bad that I have lost touch with getting the blog out to alumni and friends of Johnnie Hockey. A few things have happened since the end of our season that have caused a bit of a delay. Here is a bit of a timeline from the end of our season till now.

Saturday, February 29 – Season ended with a 4-1 loss to St. Thomas in the MIAC playoffs

February 29 through March 8 – Spring Break for CSB/SJU

March 4 through March 7 – MN State Hockey Tournament for recruiting

March 5 – Senior Brady Heppner and Kyle Wagner sign pro contracts with Roanoke Rail Yard Dogs

March 6 – Heppner and Wagner play first pro game and combine for 1 goal and 4 assists

March 9 – Clean out equipment from the National Hockey Center

March 10 – 6 players named All-MIAC and 3 players named to MIAC All-Rookie team

March 10 – End-of-season meeting with team to gather information and to plan for spring

March 11-13 – Player individual meetings

March 13 – NCAA spring seasons and winter championships canceled due to virus

March 13 at 5pm – Classes at CSB/SJU suspended moving forward and students asked to head home

March 16 – CSB/SJU employees asked to work from home and all on-campus visits canceled until April 15

I have been trying to figure out a way to get the blog back going so I can keep everyone updated on what is happening with SJU Hockey. Here is the plan moving forward. I have a number of ideas for blogs and I want to take some time each week to get some blogs out to you. I hope to have at least one blog out per week and some weeks plan to have two. I have thought of some ideas for blog content and I think it will be some interesting stuff for those interested in what is going on with Johnnie hockey.

Here are the subjects that I plan to write on…

2019-20 season-ending awards and review of season

2020 graduating seniors, what are their plans moving forward

Recruiting updates and how have things changed with the Coronavirus

Fundraising updates including postponement of Go Johnnies Challenge and golf outing updates

Assistant Coach Cory Thorson update and what a year in the life of a MIAC assistant coach

Player updates and blogs. What are they doing in the summer?

If anyone has a blog idea that they are interested in, please feel free to email me at dschueller@csbsju.edu.

Thanks for all of your support for Johnnie Hockey and I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy!

Go Johnnies.
