This blog will give a quick look back at our game against Hamline and a look forward to a series this team has been looking forward to since 11:48p.m. on March 2, 2019.
This past weekend we had one game against Hamline. It happened to be on Friday night when the “BIG” storm was coming. We ended up moving our game from an 8pm start time to 4pm. This helped with the weather and travel, but I think we can all say the storm didn’t live up to expectations.
With that said, I can say the result didn’t live up to our expectations either. I can’t say we played a terrible game, because I thought we gave a pretty good effort throughout. There were some small details that needed to be better in order to score more goals, but we made a step in the right direction with our effort. In the end, we out-shot them 31-22 but ended up in a 1-1 tie after regulation and overtime. We then lost the extra point when we lost the shootout. Like I said, the result was not what we wanted, but we have to keep moving forward while getting better because it does not get any easier.
This weekend we play a home-and-home series against Augsburg. We play at Augsburg on Friday night at 7pm and then at the National Hockey Center on Saturday night at 7pm. This is a series that has been bolded on our calendar since we lost the MIAC Championship in 4 overtimes lastMarch 2. Augsburg has had a lot of success recently and that has not changed this year as they are currently ranked #8 nationally. They will be a tough opponent once again, but we are looking forward to the challenge.
The game at Augsburg has always been well attended in the past with alumni and friends of Johnnie hockey and we hope to see everyone there again this Friday.
Thanks for all the support and Go Johnnies!
