On Thursday, April 11th, SJU Athletics will be rolling out the first-ever “Go Johnnies Challenge” fundraising event. This is an online, social-media based fundraising event that will help raise money for the athletic department. All money designated for SJU Hockey will go directly to our sport. The money raised for SJU Hockey will be used to help fund our trip to Boston in the 2019-20 season and to increase our equipment budget to allow me to provide more sticks to our student-athletes.
The goal given to me for SJU Hockey is 50 donors, though my personal goal is to reach 100 donors. There are three ways that you can help us reach these goals. The first is to simply donate to this challenge, second is to become an advocate for SJU hockey and this event, and third is to create a matching gift to encourage others to donate.

Becoming an advocate for SJU Hockey helps because you can push this event out through your social media accounts and challenges people or alumni that you know and may be willing to donate. By becoming an advocate, you can also create a personal plea video that others can see and that may encourage someone else to donate.

2. Click on “Advocates” tab in the middle of the page
3. Click on Sign up or Log in
4. Enter the information and submit
5. Keep this information so you can log in on the day of the event to push out on your social media
Creating a matching gift for Johnnie Hockey could help encourage young alumni and those that do not ordinarily donate to do so because they know their money is also including the matching gift. I have a goal to find matching gifts of $100 per donor to SJU Hockey. I have personally created a match of $5 per donor up to 100 donors for a total of $500. 3. Chose “other” below the $1 per $1 donated
4. Enter the amount that you would like to donate per donor
5. Click on “match sport” then choose “hockey” in the drop-down menu

I believe that with matching gifts and the passion of family, friends and alumni of SJU Hockey that we can raise well over $20,000 for the hockey program on April 11th.
