Tokyo Tours:

All five days in Tokyo we were running around and touring all the areas of Tokyo. With that said, our hotel was also right in Shinjuku which was one of the craziest places I have ever been. The liveliness on the streets at all hours of the day was amazing. I don’t think the people of Tokyo sleep.

Some of the top spots that we visited were Asakusa Shrine area, Imperial Palace, Ramen Street, Tokyo Skytree, Sumo City, Meji Shrine, Shubuya Crossing, the Fish Market and the Tokyo Dome. There were two things that stuck out to me was the Sanja Matsuri festival in the Asakusa area. This was an amazing experience to see all of the Japanese traditions and the sheer number of

people that packed into that area. This is considered one of the largest festivals in the world. The second was the experience we had at the Tokyo Giants baseball game. The intensity of the fans and the constant chanting and cheering was awesome, but exhausting. We met some nice but crazy people and I really enjoyed watching how the game was ran and how the fans stood up the entire time their team was up to bat. Finally, they were celebrating 2200 wins for the Giants so the crowd was great and we all received a commemorative towel.

Tokyo was a great experience, but I am really looking forward to getting to the Karuizawa area. I need a change of pace from the crazy pace of Tokyo. We will be doing some curling, hiking, and relaxing in Karuizawa before we head home on Friday.

Thanks for your support and my next blog will be from Karuizawa.
